BlueBlankie.com was created in Whitby, Ontario, founded by Tanya Petruk, mother of two (soon to be three). The company name sprang from her daughter's constant companion: her blue blankie that had been handed down from her dad.

"I came up with the idea for the business after trying to find a replacement blankie for my daughter, and I couldn't find the design and quality I was looking for," says mompreneur Tanya. "I have a background in internet content which translated well to running an e-commerce store, and being able to run my own company while raising my children has been an extremely rewarding experience. My daughters will sometimes help me pack and ship orders, and I hope I am inspiring them to be entrepreneurs too. My husband offers his invaluable experience with web site development and inventory. It's really a family company."
